Hi Nighthawk, I wondered, what is the difference between an aircraft listed as "preserved" and one listed as "stored"?
For VC10s for example there are some as preserved in a museum and some as stored in a museum. In a museum aren't all preserved?
Cheers
I'm not sure, I'm afraid. The statuses came from our original data source that we obtained, there was never any explanation of what the difference between the statuses were. It may also be that one of our data editors has updated the record since and used stored instead of preserved.
I'd suggest "preserved" should be used for anything in a museum, while "stored" more appropriate for something parked up at an airport such as Mojave/Victorville.
This isnt a hard and fast rule though, so there may well be inconsistencies.
