Alitalia will cease operations on 15th October, to be replaced the following day by ITA (Italia Trasporto Aereo). The airline will initially operate just 52 aircraft (half the current fleet).

Bookings with Alitalia will not be honoured by the new airline, and frequent flier miles will not be transferred over either.
