CityJet have selected the SSJ100 to replace their Avro RJs. It'll be a shame to see the Avro disappear, but it'll be nice to see the SSJ100 in British skies.
Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA) and Irish European regional airline CityJet have signed an agreement on 15 firm orders for delivery SSJ-100 plus an option for 10 more, SCA said in a press release. "The deal is worth more than $1 billion at the aircraft's contract price, including options and related services. The deliveries are due to begin in Q1 2016," SCA said. Four should be delivered in 2016 and the other 11 by the end of 2017.
Yes that's great news, to see new European orders for Russian aircraft. Finally recognition that Russia can make decent civil aircraft! Let's hope this is the first of many!
For a long time I hoped to see the Tu204 get some more international orders as that was basically a decent plane (as far as I know, and I flew on a few), specially when fitted with RR engines but sadly that never came to pass.
