Just registered, I'm on a spotting trip and I came across your site after searching for a biz jet in the US I'd seen. Great site, very impressed - once I get home I'll put in all my historical sightings as well. I've been creating my own database up until now with cross referencings and lookups with reasonable success. However, it constantly needs updating and editing so I appreciate just what a job it is to run this database. Well done.

A suggestion - would it be possible (or is it already) to view new sightings only and not repeated viewings? Maybe I'm just old fashioned but it was always "new cops" in my day.

You will find most biz jets here but smaller ones like c172s and pa-28s are still missing(work in progress) some are in the DB thou, and all airliners are in the DB find any faults or missing ones put them here and we will correct them as soon as possible.

Different subject - 737 msn 22034 listed as YL-BAC Transaero to 06.98 then Riair. I flew on YL-BAC operating a Transaero flight on 01Oct98. So it must have been with Transaero until then?

Hi Gary DHC Dash 8 msn 539, QantasLink, is listed as VH-SSB, believe it should be VH-SBB.

Also a couple of corrections on Pulkovo Avia Tu154. RA-85552 shows joining Z8 from SU in Jun 2000; I flew on this aircraft, on Pulkovo flights with Pulkovo titles, on 19Aug98 anbd 23Jan99 so it was with Z8 by then. RA-85553 shows joining Pulkovo in 2004; I flew it on 22Jan99, again on a Z8 flight and it had Pulkovo titles.

China Southern B777-F1B B-2072 (cn 37310 / ln 770) is not listed in the database with its current registration but only with its test reg N448BA. Please change to B-2072.

G-AOYL and G-APEX Viscounts are in the DB but only have one entry.Delivery dates to BAF of 1984 and 1981 respectively.

They were both around since 1958 and their historys are widely available on the net and in books.

How can i log these correctly for a BA 1978 sighting if they only have BAF del dates for 1981 and 1984

all can i say is it will be done soon but they are over 400 air frames for the viscount so it will take time. G-APEX and G-AOYL have been amended.

So can even though you say Viscounts are a 'tracked' types the full data is actually not in the DB just a recent entry.Not at lot of use to me if i'm logging from 1978.

You mention many types as tracked but only single out the Russian types as incomplete and that only recent sightings may be included.This is clearly not the case is it.

So before i continue my logging from 1978 onwards to find this situation occurring with other types maybe you can make it clear which types are fully covered and which are incomplete even though they may be listed as tracked.

use the add multiple sightings that's what i used when i joined plane logger and my aircraft go as far back as Aer Lingus F27s and Viscounts. British Eagle Britannia's and i included aircraft from BEA pre BAW.

We have access to a page that has recent manual additions, so aircraft added that are not in the database go on this page then we attempt to add them if we can find the information we need.

Hi Ben, Thanks for that, good to know. A few further questions/points-

I notice that the aircraft is added without the record of my seeing it, so I will need to go back and log it. Is it possible to know what aircraft are added, so loggers can do that?

On this particular example, the aircraft was with Georgian Airlines first. There were a number of airlines in Georgia at the time - Georgian Airlines, Air Georgia, and others; then Air Zena was set up and the main ones were all merged into AirZena Georgian Airlines.

For any of my sightings that you want to add to the database, I have most of the other data - msn, series, previous registrations - in my desktop log so feel free to ask. For Soviet aircraft a lot of good data is available at scramble.nl - you may well have that already but just in case.

put in a note pad format i can manage without dates i will work it out. that is again if you want to. i will just do the best i can

Tu154 RA-85760 listed as with Belavia with RA code from 99 to 04, then Continental. According to scramble.nl it was never with Belavia and was registered with Continental in Mar99. I saw it in May02 and believe that I saw it as Continental - not Belavia.

EK-65650 Tu134 msn is missing. It's 0351006

RA-85760 and EK-65650 corrected all serials that start with 0 or multiple of 0s will appear with out them this is beyond my control.

Both seem to link to the same airline URL (not case specific), but remain separate entries under my sightings.

I had the same problem with some of my entries the link is not case specific, but i found out my list is case specific. The entries must be the exactly the same you must choose which one looks better and use that the only way is to edit each entry one by one. copy and paste is the quickest way i know.

I do however note a couple of the Expressjet fleet at least is listed as Delta Connection when they are United Express - examples are N12175 & N31131.

all i can do is put them with the parent airline ExpressJet and enter as United Express and Delta connection one at a time this is going to take some time as there are over 400 aircraft to check(413). i will have do it in between spotting. HELP

and many more. What about these as they are all flying with the United globe on the tail

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but i am in a very similar position to Jojo (14th September).

I have just discovered the site and intend to put in all my historical sightings as well. I have created my own databases in Excel up to now with cross referencings and lookups with reasonable success. However, with Plane Logger, when inputting historic sightings, particularly N regs, the latest carrier of that reg comes up, obviously. Is there any way oflogging the airframe seen? Are logged regs updated in "my sightings"?

This is a brilliant site though and just what i have been looking for!

it went on a demo tour in 02/2000 for Boeing as N1002R which was its test reg and as it was destined for Condor it would have been in Condor livery. does this help you i can add N1002R as Boeing if you want. but not as Condor as it was not delivered to Condor until 22/03/2000
