Is It My Computer?

Hello All. From time to time I am unable to view my sightings. The template & graphics are all in place but no list of sightings. Sometimes it rights pretty quickly, at other times after a very long time. Does anyone else experience this, or is it my computer do you think?

I have the same issue, just like you sometimes it rights quickly, other times not. This has been happening for around a month with me.

Yes. It seems to be a little hit and miss. Sometimes works stellar, and other times not a all.

Is anyone able to provide some more information on this to narrow down when it happens and when it doesn't, or better yet, some steps to reproduce it?

What web browser are you all using, and what Operating system?

It is pretty inconsistent. Just tried it 7:39pm EST on OSX 10.9 Chrome and it took some time to display. After which sorting does not work or is really slow. You need to re-select view my sightings to try again.

Also tried on iPad and basically the same display time.

I have found that if it displays immediately than sorting and searching work fine. If it takes time to display, then it is best to view my sightings again.

BTW, I have also encountered this on Firefox and Safari.

Thanks

Stephen

Same set up at 10:43 AM EST and it was instantaneous.

I've had a play with this, and taken a few steps to optimise the code to boost page loads, but it doesn't seem to have made a lot of difference. In testing, typically the page is loading in under 500ms, which is quite reasonable. (I've added a timer just below the table to show how long it took to fetch the data, so keep an eye on this).

7:39pm EST would be 2:39pm GMT, right? There are a few backup scripts that run during the day, one should run around 2pm, but it should take around 5 minutes to complete.

If you are still having problems, let me know, along with the time of day it occurred and I'll try and narrow down the cause.

I have visited the sight several times over the past 3 days, inputting and deleting some sightings, & everything is 100% at the moment.

I would agree. That i have not had any problems over the past 3 or so days. Everything is working correctly.

Excellent, good to hear. I also noticed that the memory usage on the server was almost maxed out, so I killed off a few unused tasks.

It looks like that may have been the issue, so i'm investigating upgrading the server to something with a bit more memory.

Let me know how you get on over the next few days.
