New Seen Frame / Flown Frame Indicators

Ever since launching PlaneLogger, one of the most asked questions has always been "How do I mark a frame as seen?", and until now that wasn't really possible, as PlaneLogger stores sightings against a registration, not the frame. While some users like to log by registration, others logged by frame, and didnt have a way of doing this.

We've been trying to find an answer to this, and in the latest update we finally have the answer. We've added new partial icons for "Seen Frame" / "Flown Frame". These will display in the airline fleet pages for any aircraft where you have logged that frame under a different registration.

Let me know what you think!

Hi Nighthawk'

I'am a little confused with this, because when I look at an airline fleet list I get a caption to say that you have seen this aircraft under a different registration. When in fact the registration is the same, but the airline has changed. Also, I don't know if the aircraft section is active, but this has little effect on these. I've seen a lot of these frames, yet they are not marked as seen.

Hi Nighthawk (again)

Unless I read this wrong I find the "View" page adds nothing to what was already contained under "My sightings".(Which I found better) If you can link the registration to the history from My sightings, would it be possible to link airframe No's from aircraft history to aircraft section. Or else downsize MY sightings and create an extra column for construction No's and then link into aircraft section.

If the frame has two entries for the same airline (even if they are the same registration), and you have marked the sighting against an older entry (for example if you mark an aircraft as seen, then it goes out on lease, then comes back again), you will get this.

Previously, it wouldn't show as seen at all, but at least now it shows as "seen frame". This is still something that needs tidied - but it's progress!

The new "View" button on My Sightings / My Flights is unrelated to this. It was added to make the site more mobile friendly - the previous edit/delete buttons were useless on mobiles. Instead they have been replaced with a view button, with the edit / delete options now contained on this page.

It doesnt add a great deal of extra functionality, but does show the comments, which was previously not displayed anywhere.

Hi nighthawk,

The view button does not seem to be working with Firefox or Chrome browsers. I wanted to amend two entries and the response was :

Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /Sighting/View/1197821

Perhaps you can investigate?

Hi Swakeleys,

I've now fixed this issue - it was due to your profile being set to private. It was blocking access to that sighting, even though it was you that was trying to view it. I've updated the logic here to allow you to view your own sightings when the profile isnt public.

You should now be able to view the sighting and edit it.

Hi nighthawk,

Thanks for effecting the fix - now working well.
