When I have seen a plane I regard it as seen even if it gets sold/re leased to another airline. Is there a program that will let me tie up that plane to new owners without having to re-enter the information.

Regards Dave

hey Dave,

This is one of the things I was considering when making PlaneLogger - should sightings be recorded based on registrations or airframe.

I went with registration, but I'd love to hear some feedback from others on what they prefer.

Personally, I collect registrations only. I find it easier as the registration is boldly displayed on the aircraft fuselage. I suppose a purist registration collector would encounter problems when a registration pops up again on a different aircraft, but on a purely personal note I just record it again on the new aircraft. I don't keep a running tally as such and indulge the hobby on a personal basis following my own rules!

Although I file my records by registration, the important feature of sites like this is to tie registrations to airframes, as some of my aircraft have changed registrations several times in the 23 years I've been doing it.

I file my sightings by reg as well. I do like to make a note of its construction number as well if I can. I is good to be able to track an airframe throughout its life and with so many used aircraft on the market, I think its good to be able to see where its gone, has it been re-sold/scrapped/stored ect. I guess its down to individual choices really
