What is everyone's favourite airport for spotting?
Manchester has to be one of my favourites - anywhere that has a pub with a view can't be beaten IMHO.
You also can't beat St Maarten, although the airport isn't as busy as you think.
What is everyone else's favourite?
I used to like the old SVO Terminal 1.
There was a restaurant up on the 3rd floor I think, with a view straight out onto the domestic ramp. I'd spent a happy couple of hours there between flights, nibbling on blinchik, pelmeni or sandwiches, with a few vodka shots, while watching Tu134s, Tu154s, IL86s, etc, and a reasonable view onto the runway to get the international movements as well.
That sounds interesting, Dougie. A nice unusual mix of traffic to see too!
I'm guessing it's not there anymore?
For me it is always a combination of the setting and the variety of the traffic.
I really enjoy being close to the action at the viewing point along runways 25 in Las Vegas (though temperatures may be an issue :-9).
Another great airport is LAX with traffic from all over the world. Enjoying some food near the In-n-out burger in the 24 arrival is priceless.
Also AMS, LHR and FRA have a boost of interesting traffic.
Funchal airport on Madeira island in the Atlantic is fabulous as well as airports on some smaller greek islands for their settings. The traffic is not much but the scenes are great.

Madeira certainly looks interesting, as does Skiathos - the European St Maarten!
Good call on LAX, can't beat an in-n-out! If only they did beer, it would be perfect!
Manchester is my home airport, but I love spotting on Acacia Street at Brisbane Airport, close to the action, warm, blue skies, free parking, local police seeing spotters as a help not a hindrance, but most of all, a good atmosphere and craic with the other spotters.
